Warm winter eyes

FOTD coming through!

Don’t mind the skin, my hormones have been riding a rollercoaster again.
I’ve been trying to keep it under control with anti inflammatory agents, but like everything, it needs time!

Anywho, I pulled some warm smokey burgundies and golds out of my drawer and this is what became of it, not a very eventful look but hey:

Simple smokey eye

All you bloggers that posted olive nails over the past few weeks, you looked gorgeous and i’ve now officially copied you.
I couldn’t take it anymore.

Found an Essence polish in 139 Walk on the wild side.
Not sure how i’m liking it just yet, let’s see if it actually stays on longer than a day.

I’ll keep you posted on that, but I wanted to share the eye look I created to go with it:

Pumpkins à la granny!

Now we don’t carve pumpkins here in Belgium (sadly enough) but we do eat them!

A hearty pumpkin soup for me just embodies winter, however I can’t stand it being bland!
When ordering pumpkin soup in a restaurant, I sometimes get this.. limpy soup. Yuk!

Slap in the face!

Pumpkins are sort of sweet, and I love having opposites in food.
Adding some salt and spice to them just balances everything out so nicely.

We all get shaped by our environment right, so here’s the soup that shaped me:

Granny lifeofbun’s recipe for pun’kin soup!

  • 1 pumpkin in cubes
  • 1 red pepper
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • Salt & pepper
  • 800 ml stock (chicken/vegetable for the vegeterians)
  • 1 cup crème fraîche (to pull up the taste of the pumpkin, make it more fresh)
  • optional: some coconut milk… that just makes it even better

Kay now get your oil into a pot, and chuck in the  pepper, garlic, onion and curry powder.
Let that glaze up, not bake!
That’s the one things she tells me every single time:
“Do not bake your onion! No seriously!”

Then after about 2 minutes add your pumpkin, and let that simmer for another 2 minutes.

Then add the stock, and let it boil very softly for 15 mins.

Blend your soup and add coconut milk, salt and pepper to taste.

Add some crème to every plate,
aand done!

I sure hope you try it.
Send some cosmic lovin’ this way if you like it!

Oh on a sidenote:

Fall with wet n wild suspension!

You bet I thought about that title long and hard!

It’s so beautiful here today, all foggy and fall-y outside.
I realized this after having hopped on my bike to go get some “pistoletjes”!

These tasty things!
We eat them every Sunday here with family, or I even do when i’m alone, accompanied by some coffee!
It’s a Dutch custom!

Anyway I felt like my face needed some warm colors too!
Which is where Angie’s items came in handy, perfectly catered to fall!

I didn’t use the lipstick from the package, but sat down and mixed up a lip tar to go with the gorgeous burgundy lipliner she got me instead, and ended up with this:

Custom lip tar:
NSFW + brown (Traffic, Rx, NSFW, Tarred, a tiny bit of Feathered) and a tiny bit of Tarred again.

Mauve Outta Here

At first the packaging looked good, I like how you can see the color through the cap as well as on the sticker itself.
Very clear!

But after using it 4 times the lipstick got all over the cap:

Colors & pigmentation

Again the order is bare lips – thin coat – full on color:

Lovely!
I really like it, it’s a very cool-toned though wearable fuchsia shade.

The color on the second picture is very hard to obtain though, these lippies seem to apply pretty full on straight away.
I had to really work it into the lips to get a subtle color.

Texture

When applying them onto the lips, they don’t feel creamy actually, they’re quite dry compared to the Catrice lippies for example.
However that then translates into the staying power being a million times better.

They do stick behind little flakes on the lips when applying the first coat, the second one glides on better and covers them.
However smooth lips just make things a million times easier.

One thing I noticed straight away as well is they don’t feather at all, very steady stuff.

I love the feeling once it’s on!
A matte lippie feels so luxurious on the lips I think..
Anyone else share this thought? ^_^

Staying power & quality

I did not expect this!
These stay on so well for a lipstick!

After having eaten it still looks decent, however i’d reapply for full impact.
When not eating, it will stay on for a good 5 hours.
Crazy right?

The verdict

Seriously?
That kind of quality and pigmentation, and cruelty free, and available in the drugstore, for that price ($1.99)??

I wish we had that over here,
tastes like more to me!!

If you do have dry lips, make sure to moisturize first though!
