You’d better not Urban Decay!!!!

Here we go again, that’s right, again turmoil with Urban Decay.

They didn’t want their cruelty free status to change (after the customer riot), so instead of going to China they’re selling to a parent company.
Which then happens to be one of the biggest testing brands on the planet, L’Oréal.

Today L’Oréal announced they have signed the agreement with Castanea Partners already, let’s see if UD dares go through with it.

Update: Phyrra emailed her contact at Urban Decay to ask what’s up, and here’s what they mailed back:

“As for the sale, we want to reassure our customers/fans that although our ownership is changing, our principles have not. L’Oreal is the industry leader in finding alternatives to animal testing. We’re excited to have a partner who has made and continues to make important changes in our industry. Thank you again.”

Aren’t they doing good enough just as is? It’s hard to believe they’re selling at a loss.
The Naked Palette was (and is) one of the biggest hypes in the make up industry, they sell good quality products, and they’re readily available.

Is the market really too small for them or their greed too big?

Check out this and this link for more info on the matter.
Grrrrr.

  1. Thanks for stopping by … i use sheercover, but i have no idea how organic or natural

  2. I’m glad I never bought anything from UD. I will certainly never do it. L’Oreal is a leader, yes… a leader in animal testing!! I’m disgusted at the very idea of just how greedy and immoral some people are…

  3. I heard about this and though of you. I so hope they don’t change their ways. It’s so unnecessary theses days to continue this testing and so insane. Oh and, weee little turtle!

  4. ==> $$$ <== trumps all. And when you/they kick the bucket, not a dime of it will save your soul either. I'm sorry these people are doing this as it bothers you so much.

    • I like that quote, maybe they’ve just been blinded by the moolah. I heard they’re having money trouble but I can’t imagine what kind of crazy stuff would have to happen to a company that made $140 mil worth of sales in one year, to go bankrupt..

  5. It’s sad that they are going the same route Body Shop did. However, I’ve heard rumours L’Oreal is trying to go cruelty free next year. Plus, buying from L’Oreal’s cruelty-free children company rather than L’Oreal itself is surely a good way to show them that cruelty-free is where the money is. :)

    • That’s true, then again on the other hand the money is still going toward the parent company. So many companies say they invest in “looking for alternatives” or “going to go cruelty free”, and keep that status for years! Doesn’t feel right to me. Like they keep the customers that care about animals on a leech almost.

  6. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t :(
