First thoughts about my juicer
I think i’m about ready to make a statement!
I recently bought the philips hr1866 xxl juicer in an attempt to improve my daily eating habbits.
The reason I chose that one, is because it has a pretty big tube, to fit whole apples in. And also because the reviews I read suggested that it’s easily cleanable.
The tube is indeed pretty big, it fits most sizes of apples, pears, etc. Unless they are uber big. But then I just chop ‘em in half.
It’s not all that hard!
Cleaning-wise, I haven’t had any trouble with it. The thing is though, it’s pulp. So as long as you rinse it out in time, before the pulp hardens and gets ‘glued’ to the walls, it’s fine.
Of course if you leave it standing there for a day, it’s going to be a *bliep* to clean!
I’ve been juicing for 4 days now, drinking a 500 ml glass of juice every day. And I feel really good about it!
My body seems to be liking it (but maybe that’s half psychological too, I have no idea. The brain has a lot of influence on the body though I think, so can’t be bad!)
The first day I got my juicer, I sort of stuck to juicing fruits. Because I wasn’t that familiar with drinking vegetables yet. But by now, i’m kind of adventurous LOL.
I feel like my body benefits the most from vegetable based juices, those give me a real boost of energy.
Apple I can handle too.
But orange-based juices however, just make my belly feel kind of heavy.
Not only is this increasing my vitamin and mineral intake. It’s also making sure I drink enough fluids each day. Starting the day with 500 ml of juice. That can’t be bad!
When I know i’m going to be running around, I like to brew a mixture with cucumber, celery, carrots, an apple, and kiwi-fruit. Just very light and easily digestable. Gives me just the right amount of fullness I need!
Also, for those who suffer from migraines, potassium has been proven to help. So I try to get in fruits or veggies that contain that every day. Such as honeydew melons, carrots, celery.
If you suffer from anything else, look up what might help you!
There are lots of minerals and vitamins out there that can help you. Remember, modern medicine is derived from herbal medicine. We used to cure ourselves by strengtening our bodies, not just supress the symptoms.
I go to the store, or market to get my fruits and vegetables every 2 days. And what’s awesome about it, is that I can just be creative!
The way I figure out what juices i’ll be making is, I think of a main juicy fruit or veggie that I want. Like apple, or cucumber, or celery.
And then I just add to that, with carrots, or kiwi, or lemon and ginger. Anything really.
I still like my chips and such, but like this, at least i’m getting in my daily nutritional needs too! (so I can still munch on my bad foodies next to it.. he-he ^v^)
Gettin’ my juice on
Hmm what to say about my eating habbits…
Since i’ve not been liking meat much these days, I mostly eat potatoes, pastas and vegetables.
I really don’t come close to my 5 portions of fruit and veggies a day. More like 3, and that’s on a good day.
Not reaally a healthy diet!
So in an attempt to take in more vitamins and minerals each day, i’ve been considering getting a juicer for a while now.
Benji and Judy from ItsJudysLife on youtube really turned me on to that idea.
It just looks so nice and easy!
The things is, I don’t often take the time to peel an apple, or carrots.
But with a juicer, you can just whip ‘em in, and the healthiness comes right out!
(It’s a great way to use up veggie and fruit leftovers as well)
There are a downside though, to juicers, which is the cleaning.
It’s best to wash them immediately, so the pulp doesn’t dry up inside. That makes it pretty difficult to clean.
Secondly, many of them have little nooks that are pretty hard to get into. Or a bad mechanism, that just makes the pulp fly everywhere in the juicer.
So needless to say, easily cleanable was one of the first traits I looked for.
Prince-wise I didn’t want to go too expensive, I definitely wanted to stay below 120 euros.
My final choice then, went between 6 juicers. But so many juicers in my list just didn’t have any reviews online, at all!
After muuuch deliberating I went with the Philips HR1866 xxl. Because there are reviews about this one all over the internet, and almost everyone rates it 4 to 5 stars, out of 5!
Seemed like great value for money to me. PLUS, I got an awesome deal on it.
(oh and it comes with a recipe book LOL)
I ordered it from http://www.blenderstore.be.
They give you a 2 year warranty, free next day delivery, and free texts on my mobile to track my new friend.
Love it!
can’t wait ’till it arrives.
I’ll post a review about it once I’ve tried her out a couple of times. Maybe it will inspire more people to juice (or to not juice).
Hair colors are on the way!
Yay! I ordered my dyes faster than expected.. haha
I’ve really been feeling blue-tinged purples lately, they feel so magical…. so I went with Special Effects’ Blue Velvet and Wildflower.
Here are the colors:
Figured I can make up my own little mix in my hair. Maybe Blue Velvet on top and Wildflower on the bottom? Not sure yet.
I ordered the dyes from beeunique.com. This is my first time ordering from them, but the prices for international shipping seemed really good and they answer fast to mails too.

Purple drain, purple drain
Where has all the purple gone off to!
I’ve been following Jingleheartart for a while now, on youtube. She’s so real and super duper sweet, I love her! >_< and every haircolor she had i’ve loved on her as well.
But when she changed to an awesome purple hair color, oh myyy! I was really sold! Look how pretty:
She colors her hair with special effects hair dye, this one is in deep purple.
Now what’s so awesome and different about these hair dyes, is first of all, they are VEGAN and do not test on animals!! (So that definitely doesn’t have to mean a difference in quality.)
As for the second reason. If you are sensitive to hair dye, or are afraid that these might give you an allergic reaction. There’s a big chance that these won’t cause any reaction on your skin.
These are actually PPD-free, vegetable hair dyes. So they aren’t as harsh as many other dyes out there. It’s always best to do a strand test beforehand though, to rule out any allergic reactions. Since they are still semi-permanent.
And now on to the third awesomeness, they stay on for about 4 weeks!
They do fade, but the thing is, there’s a base color to them. So deep purple for example, fades into a bright beautiful pink!
Jessica has become pretty popular, for her colorful personality and her musical work. And maaaybe her hair color has something to do with it too.. haha
A few weeks back she made a FAQ video about her hair.
But still, she pretty much has to state her hair dye in every video desciption, and in the comments. And on every social channel she is on. Oh and then people STILL ask. LOL.
Now I don’t know if the FAQ has anything to do with the color deep purple being sold out. But it WAS pretty much around that time that online stores starting being out of stock. Coincidence or not? I wonder!
And I do not mean one store by the way, I mean stores all over the internet. By now, try and find one that has that color, and ships internationally! I challenge you! (For less than 25 dollars shipping.)
Oh and let me know if you find one, pretty please.
I’ve been told by their main seller, that the color should be back in stock around 2 weeks from now.
Thinking of going for another color from this brand now though, while waiting for the other one to come back in stock. They have so many amazing colors anyway! And I’m tired of my brown hair, and ready to make my hair pop! Yay!
I have had a blue from them before, but I don’t know which one. It was awesome, faded to a forest green.
We’ll see!
I guess I might post pictures of the results once I’ve colored it here, why not ^_^
En route to cruelty-free!
Here’s a little sum up of my journey toward cruelty-free goodness (^v^)
Let’s go back to when I was a teenager in high school!
We had to wear uniforms there (yuk) and it just wasn’t a very happy time for me, like for many people.
Luckily , in my senior year, I found an extremely attractive guy that tought me that playing videogames is a good thing, and that I can express myself more and it’s okay.
He now still is my best friend and boyfriend (^_~)
It started getting better then, but it was only when I graduated from there, that I started to find myself more.
Since then i’ve learned, that I put a tremendous amount of importance in colorful living, fantasy and all of that. I guess they secure my mental health LOL.
I love adding color to my clothes, face, anything. And was naturaly drawn to bright eyeshadows and lipsticks and what not. But whilst buying them, I had this annoying feeling inside of me. And couldn’t quite place it.
It’s so easy to lose track of where products come from! Companies have a good way of putting blindfolds over our eyes. It’s not like it’s written on there in big letters that scream out to our conscience. HEY, YOU, YEA YOUUU! YOU’RE HURTING ANIMALS! (that would probably help a lot.)
Then, about two years ago, I stumbled upon cruelty-free products. Now, I know it’s bad, but in my brain, animal testing for cosmetics meant putting lipstick on monkeys. So I didn’t think much of it at first. When I heard the word cruelty though, I realised that we as consumers need to take more responsability for what we buy.
Since then, i feel like i’ve evolved into a more responsible consumer. Especialy at the start of this new year, I feel i’m going to make a big evolution for myself. It has become clear to me how brands, and stores fool us. But I also feel like we can make a change, and I can make a change.
At this moment, i’m completely cruelty free as far as I know. I’m still looking up about it and learning new things almost every day. Some companies are really not what they appear to be, such as MAC cosmetics. One of the masters of trickery there, when you look a bit further.
Onto food. I’m not a vegetarian. I eat meat about once a week. Processed in something, like pasta-sauce. But even that i’m beginning to detest more and more. Trying to figure out how to take care of that health-wise. Let me know if you have any tips or suggestions on that
Sooo yea, that’s where i’m at at the moment!
